Meadow & Pine - Logo & Branding
This was my final branding project of 2018, and I have to say it was one of my favourite projects to date! From the moment I heard Andrea’s business name “Meadow & Pine”, I knew this was going to be a great project to work on, and had some clear ideas of where to take her branding right from the start.
The name Meadow & Pine is based on the location of Andrea’s photography business, and an area that inspires her: The Minnesota Prairies. The name is also reflective of Andrea’s ideal client: “someone who loves to be outdoors and is up to explore a new place”. So nature and the outdoors were always going to be a key part of her brand, to go along with the beautiful business name, and especially natural elements specific to the Minnesota Prairies. I did a bit of research and presented Andrea with a selection of wildflowers that can be found in the area, and we selected a few favourites to use in the designs: Golden Rod, Prairie Phlox, and Black Eyed Susan
Andrea also wanted her brand to have a feeling of warmth, which came in through both the colour palette, traditional serif font styles, and the use of pine cones and pine needles (which are also common in her area in the form of Blue Spruce Trees, and of course a big feature of her business name).
I pulled together all of these ideas and created a few design concepts for Andrea to choose from for her primary logo. Andrea was particularly drawn to the first design, but liked the use of the Black Eyed Susan flower in the second design, so I went back in and altered the designs slightly to combine the two. I also updated the font selection and switched around the colours a little, and Andrea was thrilled with the new design.
Next up, I created all of the other elements for Meadow & Pine’s visual identity. I created an alternative, simplified version of the logo, and a couple of submark designs, as well as a selection of floral illustrations/graphics, and my favourite element: the patterns. Each element has two colour ways : the cream on green, and the green & charcoal on cream, so there’s lots of scope for Andrea to have variation within her brand, whilst remaining consistent across all areas of the business.
For the business cards, I created a simple design with the main focus on the primary logo, with contrasting colours on either side and an additional pinecone motif alongside her contact details on the reverse.
Andrea was my first branding client to receive the new, updated package which now includes a set of Canva templates for social media. I used the brand colours and fonts along with a few of the illustrations/graphics to create 4 templates:
- 2 Pinterest graphics (for sharing blog posts etc.)
- 2 Instagram graphics (for quotes, offers, client reviews etc.)
I’ve so enjoyed working with Andrea on this project and am really thrilled with how everything has come together. You can see more of Andrea’s work and see the new branding in action at meadowandpinephotography.com
Here’s what Andrea had to say about working with me:
“Working with Emma has been such a joyful and easy experience! She is well organized, responds in timely manner, and is AMAZING at understanding her clients vision in a short amount of time. Her work is lovely, joyful, and dreamy! receiving an email from her felt like Christmas when it came to receiving branding drafts! Her passion for her work is apparent and I'm thankful for such a phenomenal experience!”
Thanks so much Andrea!
