MJ Mendoza Photography - Logo, Branding & Website
I've got one of my favourite jobs today, sharing another new branding & website reveal with you! This one is for the lovely Monica of MJ Mendoza Photography, and its a lovely, feminine, classic design which I'm so excited to show you.
Monica came to me because she wasn't happy with her current branding, as she felt like it looked a little too generic and wasn't helping her to stand out. We started with the usual in depth branding questionnaire, and one thing that kept standing out to me was cherry blossoms. They were a key part of her own love story, so they seemed fitting as a part of the branding for business which is all about telling other people's love stories.
Monica also described her ideal bride as some-one who wants a classy, elegant wedding, loves the small details and is a fan of Kate Spade & florals. I took all of these ideas and created a mood board to form the direction of Monica's new branding.
Right from the start I envisioned a classic, type based logo, which would be placed on a delicate, feminine, floral background on her website and collateral items. This idea tied in all the things that Monica had talked about in her questionnaire, and she loved the initial sketch I put together for her, so I got straight to work on some rough concepts.
Monica's favourites were the ones that included a small floral motif, so that the logo would still have that feminine touch even when not places on the floral background. Once we'd narrowed it down to one favourite, I spent some time illustrating the cherry blossoms, and drawing the lettering for the "photography" part of her logo.
The elements of Monica's primary logo allowed me to create several secondary logo and submark options for her, so her new branding would be really versatile for everything she had planned.
Next up was the collateral items and business card design. Monica is a big gift giver and loves sending gifts to her clients during her time working them, so she wanted to created a note card and stickers to use for packaging those gifts.
Finally, I got to work on a website design, bringing everything together to showcase Monica's beautiful photography. We started with a rough-mock-up, and then put everything in place in Squarespace (I created a temporary landing page with the new branding whilst we were working on the site)
You can view the website in full and browse through Monica's work at mjmendozaphotography.com (Say Hi to Monica while you're there!)
I thoroughly enjoyed working with Monica on this project and I love how everything has come together. I'll always have a soft spot for a project with pretty florals and soft pinks, and its even better when the client is lovely and fun to work with too!
Are you planning a rebrand or launching a small business? I'd love to work with you on your branding!
