 The Design Process

001 | Questionnaire & Initial Consult

I love getting to know my clients and the stories behind their businesses, and include meaningful elements in all of my designs. The process starts off with an in-depth questionnaire all about you, your passions, ideas and interests. We'll then have a video call where we can chat about the history of your business and what got you started in the first place, and use that to inspire the concept for your new branding. We'll also talk about your ideal client, who they are, and what you want them to feel when they see your brand, as well as who your competitors might be and how we can make sure you stand out from the crowd.

002 | Moodboard

After our video call, I’ll condense all of our ideas in to a mood board, to give you a clear visual for the direction of the project. This gives you an opportunity to be sure you’re happy with the direction I’m going in, before I get started on your designs.

003 | Design Concepts

Once we’re both happy with the mood board, I’ll go ahead and put together two concepts for your branding. This will include your primary logo, colours and fonts (sometimes I’ll share my ideas for the other logo variations and illustrations at this stage too). We’ll go through up to 2 rounds of revisions to your chosen concept, and then I’ll create your your other logos, illustrations and templates to compliment the new branding.

004 | Brand Style Guide

I’ll put together a PDF showing you all the details of your new branding, and tips on how to get the most out of it. This covers everything from what fonts to use where, what size to display your logo, and how to use your new colour palette. At this stage I will also send over all of your final files (you’ll get PNGs with transparent backgrounds, EPS vector files, colour codes and links to download your brand fonts)

005 | Website

If you’ve chosen the Branding & Website package, our next step will be to get started on your website design. I’ll need all of your website content (images, text, etc at this stage. I’ll start with the design for the home page; implementing all of the branding choices we’ve made earlier on in the project. Once you’re happy with that, I’ll move on to the rest of the pages and create them to match. We will then arrange another video call to go through how to use your new website and keep it looking it’s best.

006 | Ongoing support

I’m always around if you have questions about which file type to use, or if you need a different file type for a printing company. I will also be available to fix any website issues (although this very rarely occurs!)
If you need further help with other design items, I offer a retainer service for a fixed monthly cost, or individual projects quoted on a per-project basis.
